Guest Speaker - Financial Derivatives
I'm looking for a guest speaker for my Financial Risk Management course (FINA 4512) this summer. The course covers forwards, futures, options, swaps, and derivative pricing (binomial trees and Black-Scholes), and students get hands-on experience trading futures in real time through the CME Group University Trading Challenge. I'm hoping to connect with alumni working in derivatives trading, risk management, hedging, or related roles at banks, asset managers, hedge funds, commodity firms, or exchanges who would be willing to share how these instruments show up in their day-to-day work. Even a 20–30 minute virtual visit would be enormously valuable for students who are learning to bridge classroom theory and real-world practice.

Guest lecture: real world investment
Dear alumni, This is Lingfei Kong, a faculty member in the finance group. I am seeking a finance professional to share real-world portfolio management experience with a class (Computational Methods and Their Applications in Finance) and give students job market advice. The course covers Python programming and its applications in finance. Sample topics include NumPy, pandas, and finance applications such as financial statement analysis using S&P Global Compustat data, mean–variance analysis, and backtesting common factors such as value and low-volatility strategies. Sample assignment includes financial analysis on the publically traded firms in the healthcare sector and building a sector rotation strategy with targeted Sharpe ratio and downside risk. A guest speaker would help bridge the gap between finance theory/academia and real-world investment practice, while also offering students valuable job market advice. The class time is Tuesday/Friday 1:35PM — 3:15PM in the Fall semester. I hope the guest speaker can give a lecture during late September or October. The lecture can be either in-person or online. Ideally, the guest lecture would take place in late September or early October, either during class time or at another time convenient for the speaker. The lecture can be either in-person or online, depending on the speaker's availability.
